We've reached what is considered one of Disney's darkest movies, 1985's The Black Cauldron. Once viewed as a major flop, the movie has found a cult following, with the evil Horned King becoming a fan favorite. How well does he hold up in the Disney Villain Pantheon? Let's find out! As a bonus, the Nome King from 1985's Return to Oz will also be covered. 0:00 Original Books/Production History 4:...

Before we get to the main Horned King video, I wanted to get my general thoughts on The Black Cauldron out there...and I have a lot of them! Get ready for ramblings about storytelling, the hero's journey, when comedy does or doesn't work, and a passionate defense of poor Gurgi. He's endured enough smackings and whackings at this point.

    There was this clip of a Christian show called the donut man that i watched. It was the hole in my roof song and once i was singing it to myself. When i got to the "and they lowered him down to jesus" part, dad was like "what" and started laughing at it hysterically. I showed him the song and he loved it. I don't know why it was funny to him, maybe because of how stupid it was 😂

    I love the interpretation of Basil and Rattigan being bitter exes. The tension between them is my favorite part of the movie, and the fact that he made a whole *song* for killing Basil? If that ain't the most melodramatic gay theatre kid action ever I dunno what is. I love them so much actually, it's not even funny. Favorite Disney movie fr.

    I understand why you didn't, but man, I was hoping you'd shout out Brooke Nevin in The Tale of Bigfoot Ridge. She played "Rachel" in the Animorphs TV show. It wasn't a great show but she and the rest of the cast gave their all to it. The issues were with the writing, editing, and effects.

    It’s OK because it’s supposed to be like references and why some of those songs are cool, but unless you think of like mixing it like with the movie rescue pups or whatever I said and it was another movie I know it was called rescue pups or something like that and then they actually sing the 12 days of dogs so but they say it with dogs so it’s like the 12 days of Christmas but with dogs just so they can get more dogs adopted. They should do that every year. For the record.

      @havenjuliette8380 2 дні тому

      But I like the second one because it’s so much cuter and it was like the great puppy rescue part two or something but part two makes you say aw but only because the kids are in cat costumes and then it’s like man I wish I could do that just to help get more dogs adopted and cats as well like during the holidays, but I know why a lot of people don’t want to adopt them mostly because of other urban legends and theories too that also includes theories about the Winnie dog you can’t find them on the Internet mostly because for one it doesn’t show very good picture and number two because only I know what it looks like but they’re mostly mixed with different breeds so it’s like totally cool now when you mix them with like different breeds, then it makes you say aw a lot more and makes you want to adopt them mostly because they’re sweet a lot of the times and very fearless

    Well, because they were trying to make it more like the series, but I know that they made a movie called the house of mouse as well, but I’m talking about the movie and that’s why they were trying to make it so it’s kind of like creepy but like cool at the same time that’s that’s also why these songs are totally cool

    With Disney pumping out unnecessary sequels during the early to mid 2000s, why didn't they do a follow up to the Great Mouse Detective?

    Yeah, I understand how you feel about Pooh interacting with a cell phone it does feel a bit much and I have to agree. I would prefer to have timelessness even though technology is something if it’s more futuristic or fantasy driven then it does seem timeless, but I don’t know Pooh using a phone doesn’t seem as timeless

    You know, other than Toy Story or Brave Little Toaster, Cars, Thomas and Friends is one of those books/series that explores the price of progress and the feeling of obsolescence. The feeling of "Am I still useful in a world that keeps advancing, and I'm just a product of something no longer as relevant as I was." But there is still that bit of hope that there's still appreciation for that stuff. Even if it's mostly niche at best and not everyone else in general. Though it does become contentious and complicated when real world history and politics gets mixed in. Sure, it's needed to understand the context of it, but then paranoia can kick in when certain people use it as a weapon to attack and make things unnecessarily divisive. Plus, it's nice he acknowledged John Lassetter's early draft which I little disappointed that Colin forgot to acknowledge when talking about the production history of this movie. 32:28
